AEOCheck vs. LocalViking
Which one is right for your business?
AEOCheck
- Runs eight real buyer-intent searches for your trade and city across ChatGPT/OpenAI, Perplexity, Google Gemini and Google organic
- Tells you whether you were named, who was named instead, and where you rank
- Five prioritised fixes per lens, an on-page audit, and copy-paste starter files
- No subscription. Done-for-you work is a separate, scoped engagement if you want it
LocalViking
- GBP post scheduling — offer, standard and event posts, recurring and multi-location
- GeoGrid rank tracking across map positions
- Photo scheduling with metadata injection
- $39/month for one listing up to $149/month for 40 — per third-party listings, not their own site
Disclosure: AEOCheck sells a competing product. We write these pages under a published method, we say what the other tool does better than us, and every claim about them is read from their own material and dated.
The honest difference
LocalViking is built for volume on Google Business Profile: schedule posts across many listings, watch map rank move on a GeoGrid, keep location data from being overwritten. For an agency running a lot of profiles, that is real time saved.
It is a publishing and monitoring tool for one surface — the Google map pack.
AEOCheck is a diagnostic for a different surface. When a customer asks ChatGPT or Perplexity who to hire, the answer is assembled from what those engines can read and trust about you — your site, its structure, and what the rest of the web says. A GBP post does not participate in that unless the foundation underneath it works.
If posts are already going out and you still are not named in AI answers, the posting was never the problem.
What each one measures
| AEOCheck | LocalViking | |
|---|---|---|
| AI crawler access (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot) | ✓ Fetched and reported in the on-page audit; fixed in an engagement | × Does not do AI crawler work |
| Schema / structured data audit | ✓ Audited in the report; a FAQPage starter is included; implemented in an engagement | – JSON-LD audit, but scoped to the Google Business Profile entity |
| AI answer engines measured | ✓ ChatGPT/OpenAI, Perplexity, Google Gemini — plus Google organic | × No citation features for ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Grok |
| Google organic ranking | ✓ Measured per buyer query | – GeoGrid map rank tracking |
| Google Business Profile | – Reviewed in the report; optimisation is an engagement add-on | ✓ Posting, photos, reviews, location management |
| llms.txt | ✓ A filled starter file is in every report | × No llms.txt, llms-full.txt or LLM guidance files |
| Expert Answer Article (HowTo content) | – Written in an engagement; the report tells you what to write | × No Expert Answer, HowTo or answer-engine content |
| FAQ schema | ✓ A skeleton keyed to your business is in every report | × Does not generate, audit, validate or manage FAQ schema |
| Competitor citation analysis | ✓ Which domains AI cites instead of you | ? Not stated on their site |
| Review platform setup | – A reviews quick-win in the report; platform setup in an engagement | ✓ GBP review management |
| Website build / rebuild | – Available as a scoped engagement, not in the report | × Not a build service |
| 90-Day Visibility Review | – Included in every engagement; the report is a one-time snapshot | ? Not stated on their site |
| Ongoing automation | – Optional retainer | ✓ Core product — scheduled posting |
| Pricing | ✓ $25 one-time per report; done-for-you engagements scoped separately | ✓ $39/mo (1 listing) to $149/mo (40 listings); Enterprise around $200 |
LocalViking's features and pricing as published on their own site, checked 2026-09-01. Their product changes without telling us — verify anything you are deciding on. Two caveats specific to this page: several capability rows reflect ESN's own review of the product rather than anything LocalViking publishes, and the pricing is taken from independent third-party listings because LocalViking does not publish a public price list.
What the numbers say
Across the 212 businesses AEOCheck has scanned so far, 192 — 91% — failed their AI visibility check. Most had the same three problems: AI crawlers blocked, no structured data, and no content for engines to cite. None of those are fixed by automating a Google Business Profile.
That number is read live from our own scan corpus when this page loads, counting the most recent scan per business — not a figure typed in once and left.
Who should use LocalViking
LocalViking is the right choice when:
- You manage many Google Business Profiles and need scheduled posting at scale
- You want GeoGrid rank tracking across map positions
- Your priority is the Google map pack specifically
- You need location data protected against unwanted changes
Their pricing is not shown on their public site — the pricing link redirects into their app. Third-party listings consistently report $39/month for a single listing, $59 for 10, $99 for 20 and $149 for 40, with an Enterprise tier around $200. Confirm current rates with them before budgeting.
Who should use AEOCheck
AEOCheck is the right choice when:
- You have searched for your own business on ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI and you did not show up
- You don't know whether AI crawlers can read your site
- Your site has no schema, no structured FAQ, and no content written the way AI engines actually cite
- You want to know specifically what is wrong before you spend money automating anything
- You want a fixed scope, a defined deliverable, and a before-and-after measurement you can verify yourself
The question to ask first
Before choosing either tool, ask one question: when someone in your city asks ChatGPT or Perplexity who to hire for what you do, does your business get named?

FAQ
What does LocalViking cost?
LocalViking does not publish pricing on their public site — the pricing link redirects to an app sign-in. Several independent third-party listings report the same tiers: $39/month for 1 listing, $59 for 10, $99 for 20, $149 for 40, and roughly $200 for an Enterprise tier of 70. Those figures agree with each other but none of them are LocalViking's own published price list, so confirm directly before budgeting.
Does posting to Google Business Profile help AI visibility?
It can help the map pack, which some AI answers draw on. It does not address whether an AI engine can crawl your website, understand what your business is from its structured data, or find anything quotable to cite — and those are the usual reasons a business is absent from AI answers entirely.
Can I use both AEOCheck and LocalViking?
Yes. AEOCheck fixes the foundation — crawler access, schema, structured content, AI citation — and that work is done once. LocalViking runs on top of it. They are not mutually exclusive, and the two together cover more ground than either alone.
Does AEOCheck offer ongoing management?
AEOCheck offers an optional ongoing retainer and a Quarterly Visibility Review at $300 per quarter. It is not a set-and-forget automation tool. It is a measurement and delivery service with human involvement on every engagement.
How long before AEOCheck results show up?
AI citation typically builds over 60 to 90 days after the foundational work is complete. Google ranking movement for specific queries can appear within 30 days. The 90-Day Visibility Review included in every engagement measures exactly what moved and what did not.
Is the AEOCheck scan free?
The headline scan is free. It shows your single most damaging visibility finding with no payment required. The full report is $25 and delivers to your inbox, usually within the hour.
